The ' Spotlight ' shines not only on former Transit Police members, but also on those closely affiliated with the Department. This month's honoree is in
that 'also' category. If you look at the website pictures of past reunions, the group shots invariably have only one female included. She is known to us as CAROL GRANT.
Carol was born August 25, 1948, in Charleston, South Carolina. She graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and began her career with the Transit Police Department
in December, 1967, as a clerk/typist. She worked in District #34, #30, and the Chief's Office at Jay Street, where she is still working now , as a Secretary 4 for the NYPD. An activist in D.C. #37, Carol
has been a shop steward, a delegate, and a Vice-Chairperson in Local #1549.
Carol is extremely proud of her success as a single parent of three daughters, with six grandchildren and another on the way ! Such a feat of single parenthood in
this day and age is truly outstanding ! She is also proud of her movement up, from her entry level position to what she is today, Secretary 4. Well done, Carol!
Carol can be reached at cgrant14@optonline.net
She was in Virginia Beach in 2002, as usual, and if the Lord is willing, will be at the Charlotte, North Carolina reunion in 2003.
