BRO. STANLEY B. CALDWELL

Many of the Retired Guardians  have relocated to other states, following retirement, but they are still members of the organization, are not forgotten and certainly are not overlooked by the ‘Spotlight’. Our November 2006 beam shines on one of the unforgettable, Brother STANLEY B. CALDWELL. Stan was born January 30, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York. Like so many of his Transit Police brothers, he is a graduate of Boys High School, Brooklyn, New York. He also attended New York Institute of Technology in Westbury, New York for 2 1/2 years.

Stan served in the United States Air Force from March 1961 to August 1964, the bulk of which was spent in Germany. He became a member of the Transit Police department on December 1, 1965, part of the Class of 600. He worked in Districts #7, #30, #33 (where he was a member of the infamous ‘Buffalo Soldiers’), #32, CWAC, Mobile Task Force, Recruitment & Retention and the Applicant Investigations Unit. During his police career, Stan earned three Honorable Mention Awards and one Meritorious Award. Stan states that he is extremely proud of his experiences in the Transit Police. He also reminded us that he has been a life long member of the Cerbereans, Guardians and Retired Guardians and is proud to have been acknowledged and honored for his consistent support to the Guardians in ticket sales. Stan was one of the original members of the ‘reunion committee’ and is a perennial attendee at the Retired Law Enforcement & Friends reunions, where some of his hilarious antics have become legendary.

Following his retirement from the Transit Police, Stan worked briefly for Trans World Airlines at JFK Airport and then relocated to Orangeburg, South Carolina where he joined the Orangeburg County Coroner’s Office. He is remains employed there as a Deputy Coroner. If you wish to contact our ‘Resident Ghoul’, he can reached via email at coroner@orangeburgcounty.org.
