BRO. McKINLEY REAVES-BEY

The Retired Guardians Fraternal Association takes pride in placing one of our longtime members, Brother McKinley Reaves-Bey, in our Spotlight for March 2005.

Kim, as he is affectionately known, was born on January 13, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York and is a graduate of Charles Evans Hughes High School. He joined the US Army in 1959 and spent the majority of his military career in Kansas and Georgia working in the communications field. He was honorably discharged in 1962. Kim joined the Transit Police on December 3, 1968 and served in various commands, including Districts 32, 34, Office of the Chief and Equipment & Supply at 300 Gold Street. He retired in 1994 after 26 years. When asked of what he was most proud during his long law enforcement career, Kim immediately cited being a member of the Cerbereans/Guardians, being able to help prospective candidates and assisting young officers in navigating the Transit Police “system”.

Kim has been married to his wife Hopie for 13 years and has three daughters and a son. He still resides in Brooklyn and can be reached by e-mail at Hopie192@msn.com
