The trend of the ‘Spotlight’ to shine on
our relocated retired Guardians continues, as February’s beam falls on BROTHER MARTIN RICHARDSON. Martin was born May 1, 1946 in Warrenton, North Carolina. He is a graduate of J.R. Hawkins High School, in Warrenton. His academic credentials also include an Associate Degree in Police Science from Nassau Community College and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Criminal Justice from John Jay College in New York City.
Martin was a member of the United States Air Force, from 1964 to 1968 dividing most of his service between Texas and Viet Nam. He joined the New York City Transit Police
Department in March 1970, and worked in Districts #3, #30, #33, #32, Operations Unit, C.S.P.S. and the Revenue Protection Unit. He retired, after a little over 20 years of service, in July 1990, in the rank of
sergeant. Martin then went to work for the United States Treasury Department, where he has since retired. Two pensions. Way to go, Marty!!!
When asked of what he was most proud, without hesitation, Martin said he was most proud of his three children, Genae, Christopher and Maria. Genae is an attorney,
Christopher, a manager with a medical supply firm and Marla is a Physical Therapist. He added with a smile “All three independent and out of the house”
