BROTHER MAJOR SEABURY

The Retired Guardians Fraternal Association proudly presents Brother Major Seabury as our Spotlight honoree for April 2005.

Major was born on October 12, 1942 in West Palm Beach, Florida. He is a graduate of George Washington High School in New York City. After graduation he attended CCNY. Major joined the Transit Police in May 1965. During his 20 year career he served in Districts 3, 2, 10, 33, CWPS, Operations Unit, FEU, Manhattan Court, Citywide D-1, 11, 4 and the Vandal Squad. He retired from the department in December 1985.

While serving in his various commands Major continued his education. He attended John Jay College were he attained a Bachelor’s degree in Forensic Psychology and Masters Degree’s in Early Childhood & Elementary Education, Environmental Science and a third Masters in School Psychology. Among Major’s long list of academic accomplishments are a Professional Diploma in Administration & Support, State & City Teaching licenses, NYS Certification as a School District Administrator, Teacher of the Commission of School Psychologists. Following his retirement in 1985 Major taught at PS 44, in Brooklyn for 8 years. He then became a School Psychologist from 1993 to 2004. He has been married to his wife Carol for 27 years and has one son, Rahsaan. He resides in Patchoque, New York
