The Retired Guardians proudly places Brother Johnny Tucker in the center of it’s April 2003 Spotlight.
Johnny was born on June 23, 1941 in Leesburg, Georgia. His family migrated to New York where Johnny attended and graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School in 1959. Later in
1959 Johnny enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, where he honorably served until 1963, spending the majority of his time in the Far East. He joined the Transit Police Department on December 1, 1965. While a member of the
department he held various patrol and administrative assignments. He started his service in District 1, then moved to District 4 and then on to District 32, where he spent the majority of his patrol career. Johnny also was
assigned to the Personnel Division in the Absentee Control Unit. Johnny retired on December 1, 1993, exactly 28 years, to the day, of his appointment. When asked of his accomplishments on the job, Johnny said that he was most
proud of an arrest he made for Robbery, while in Anti-Crime in District 32. During that arrest he chased and apprehended 4 suspects in the Housing Projects at Rockaway and Livonia. Among Johnny’s interests is softball and he was a member of the District 32 and Transit Police Softball teams for much of the time on the job.
Johnny has been married to his wife Ann for 40 years and has 3 daughters, 1 son, 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He resides in Springfield Gardens, New York
