The Retired Guardians Fraternal Association is extremely proud to place Brother GEORGE HALL in the center of our ‘Spotlight’ for April 2007.
George was born on September 2, 1947 in Brooklyn, New York. He is a graduate of Jamaica High School in Queens. George also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in
Criminal Justice, with a minor in Psychology, from New York Institute of Technology. In addition to the degree, George attended John Jay College where he received a Certificate in Social Work and Counseling. From
1966 to 1968 George served in the United States Marine Corps spending eleven (11) months in Viet Nam
George joined the Transit Police Department on July 20, 1970. He served in Districts # 32 & 33, CWPS, Detective Division Investigative Squad, Juvenile Crime
Prevention Unit (JCPU), Office of the Chief of Patrol and the Personnel Division from where he retired in the rank of Police Officer, Special Assignment on February 9, 1991. During his nearly 21 years of service,
George says that he is most proud of helping our young female officers and civilian employees become acclimated and navigate the perils of the department. During his off duty hours he is proud to have served in many
community youth organizations including the Cambria Heights Baseball and the Springfield Rifles Youth Football Association
After retirement George worked for the Federation Employment & Guidance Services as a Site Supervisor at Far Rockaway High High School. He then became the Assistant
Security Director for MetroTech Business Improvement Development (BID) in downtown Brooklyn. Following MetroTech George became a Special Investigator of Medicaid Fraud for the New York State Attorney General’s
office. In July 2003, he moved to Virginia Beach, Virginia
When asked if there was any one thing that had a profound impact on his life, without hesitation George said that the death of his son, Tremain, on December 26, 1990.
Many of us may still remember that Tremain was the innocent victim of gunfire in the Sunrise Theater at Green Acres Mall in Valley Stream, NY on Christmas Day, 1990.
George is active in the Hampton Roads 200+ Association, an organization of professional Black Men dedicated to helping Black youth in the Hampton Roads, Virginia Beach
area. He also serves as President of the Indian River Farms Homeowners Association
George has been married to his wife Brenda for 36 years and has one other son, Chad, and a beautiful new granddaughter, Miranda Zoe Hall. He can be reached via E-mail at
