BROTHER GEORGE CLEMENTS

The last “Spotlight” of 2003 shines on the Retired Guardians present Recording Secretary, Brother George Clements. George was born January 21, 1931 in Brooklyn, New York. He is another of our long line of graduates from Boys High School in Brooklyn and he attended Brooklyn College as well as John Jay College. His military service with the United States Air Force was spent mainly in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia. George joined the Transit Police Department on May 3, 1965 and worked in Districts 20, 22, 33 and Internal Affairs (IAD). He is the recipient of the NYC Transit Police Department Combat Medal and two meritorious awards. George was also commended by Brooklyn Borough President Gold for community service. George served as the Director of the Transit Police Basketball League for fourteen years and he retired from the department in December 1991.

George has an extensive record of service. He was 1st Vice President of the Transit Guardians during the Ben Patton administration and is presently the Recording Secretary of the RGFA. He is a past President of the Cambria Heights Lions Club, a service organization, and is President of the Usher Board of the Presbyterian Church of St. Albans. He is most proud of his efforts as NYS Assemblywoman Barbara Clark’s liaison person for Community Affairs. As such, he dealt with all the police precincts in the assembly district. George was President, and for the past ten years has been the Treasurer of Community Care Development, Inc., a service organization that offers aid and care to the community and its senior citizens. The name GEORGE CLEMENTS, is synonymous to SERVICE with a capitol “S”, not afraid to step up when a need presents itself. Thank You, George!
