BROTHER DONALD HUMPHREY

The subject of this month’s “Spotlight” is Brother DONALD HUMPHREY. Don was born April 23, 1937 in Youngstown, Ohio. He is a graduate of New York City’s Needle Trades High School and attended Nassau County Community College in Westbury for two years.

Don was a member of the United States Air Force from 1956 to 1960. The bulk of his service was spent at the Strategic Air Command’s Schilling Air Force Base, in Salinas, Kansas. Don was a police officer of the New York City Transit Police Department for twenty years, 1965 to 1985. During that time he worked in Districts #2, #33, Operations Unit and District #22, where he earned an Honorable Mention Award.

When asked what he puts on the top of the list of his life’s accomplishments, he replied that he is most proud of the educating of his five children, the products of his 44 year marriage to his wife Emma. Their four daughters and one son have blessed them with ten grandchildren. Don lives in Baldwin, New York and can be reached via computer at emmah359@aol.com
