March 7, 2011
Two years ago my friend, Steve Black, passed away following a very long illness. There is seldom a day that passes that at one point or
another, I don't think of my friend. This time of year is especially hard, not only because it is the time of year that he left us, but also because it was the time of year that we would get together, here
in Florida, and follow his beloved NY Yankees in spring training, catching games from Tampa to Clearwater to Bradenton to Sarasota to Lakeland.
Next week a few of us will attend a Yankees game in his honor
but we will miss his sharp wit, his in-depth analysis of how the team is shaping up, his raucous laughter and most of all, his presence. We will miss our friend.
In March 2010, Steve's wife, Dorothy, his sons Stephen and Gerard and I, put together a website in remembrance of Steve. We were to leave it up
a year, until March 9, 2011 but have decided to leave it up awhile longer. If you have not had the opportunity to see the site, please take a look and, if you so desire, leave a comment in the Guest Book.
