On Wednesday, 3/28/07 a group of Retired Transit Police Officers and two civilian friends met for 2 days of fishing and fellowship. The group was unable to fish on
Thurs., 3/29, due to weather conditions. However the group did travel 30 miles to New Bern, NC to visit retired TPO James Margerum, who spent the majority of his career in District 33. Unfortunately, not long after
the visit to New Bern, brother Margerum passed away. The group that traveled up to see Brother Margerum was Kenny Arthur - Florida, Julius Britto - North Carolina, Maceo Cromartie - Florida, Calvin Glass - New York,
Troy Henegan - South Carolina, Walter Louder - New York, James D Robinson - South Carolina, Nat Spratts - Florida, Ted Williams - North Carolina, Thomas Wooding - North Carolina, George Young - North Carolina.
On Friday, 3/29, the group got up at 4:00 AM for a day of fishing. We all know that 4:00 AM is a difficult time for retirees!. They boarded the boat at 6:00 AM and had a
three hour run to the fishing grounds. Each brother caught 10 to 12 fish! The pool was won by brother George Young with a 10lb Trigger fish. After a good meal the group settled down to a food old fashioned game of
poker. The winner was ???.
A 2nd day of fishing on Saturday, 3/31 proved to be another day of fellowship and good fishing. A poker game followed dinner.
On Sunday, 4/1, following breakfast, the group parted ways for home. They are looking forward to the next fishing trip and hope to make it an annual event. The name of
the boat was the Carolina Princess, an open head boat with a great crew.
